Ch Ch Ch Changes are Coming to Accidental ArtMaker (and why!)

Hey there, Amazing ArtMaker! π
If you've been peeking at my website lately, you might have noticed that I am not selling Iron Orchid Designs and Made by Marley anymore. And maybe you've also picked up on some hints that big changes are brewing here at Accidental ArtMaker...
Well, you know what they say: the only thing constant is change! π« And honestly, things are changing everywhere, including right here in my little corner of the art world.
Remember when I started Accidental ArtMaker four years ago? (Right smack-dab in the middle of Covid β some people thought I was completely bonkers! π) But I had this burning mission, this dream of helping women just like you discover themselves through art. And I knew I wanted to do it while sharing my favorite art supplies!
My mission hasn't changed: "Accidental ArtMaker loves and supports every woman, mid-life or older, who is discovering herself and is creating art as a way to express that discovery. Just like your own journey, your art is uniquely beautiful too. Embrace it, kindle it, and be proud of it." β€οΈ
But lately, that mission has been getting a little laser-focused...
Here's the honest truth: the current changes in the political landscape have really got me thinking. With talks of tariffs on imported goods, I just couldn't stomach the thought of raising prices and asking you lovely ladies (many of whom are on a fixed income) to shell out extra cash that's just going to end up in some government vault. Nope, not happening! π ββοΈ
So, I made the tough decision to bid farewell to IOD and MBM. But don't worry, Roycycled (made right here in America by a woman-owned small business!) is here to stay. And I'm on the hunt for other amazing American-made art supplies to fill the shelves! πΊπΈ
But that's not all! I'm also stepping into a new adventure: teaching online art classes! π My first class, "Art as Resistance," is a 5-week deep dive into how women throughout history have used art to fight injustice, racism, and yes, even the occasional patriarch. π We'll learn from their stories and create our own powerful art that speaks truth to power. Plus, I'm cooking up some plans for weekly online gallery exhibits in our community! (More on that soon - keep your eyes peeled!) π
Now, I know this might not be everyone's cup of tea. And if this new direction isn't your jam, I totally understand if you decide to unsubscribe. No hard feelings! π But for me, this feels like the right path forward, a way to use my passion for art to make a real difference in the world.
These past four years have been an absolute gift. Meeting you, getting to know so many of you incredible women... it's been life-changing. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. This isn't about upsetting anyone; it's about staying true to my values and using my little platform to create positive change. β¨
If you are signed up for the newsletter, you will automatically receive information on "Art as Resistance". You can always unsubscribe if you aren't interested. If you are interested and don't get my email, leave a comment here to let me know.
Sending you all my love,
Sharon, The Accidental ArtMaker π

Iβm happy for your new adventure but bummed about loosing my favorite on-line IOD stockist.π’
Can you direct me to another stockist nearest Yakima?
Thank you
Jamie

Sharon, thatβs exciting!!! Good for you!π₯°ππͺ I tried to pay attention to where things are made, thatβs too bad about IOD.
Keep or put me on your mailing list, I love to hear all about it. πβ€οΈ
Iβm working very hard to get my small house and studio cleaned out so I have room to paint again, my tiny business needs more newly created stuff!π π
Much love,

I love that youβre doing this 5 week course as a form of resistance! There are so many things Iβd love to be able to do besides make comments on social media regarding the dilemma the US is currently facing. This feels like the right way to express my thoughts and opinions. Thank you,Sharon, for providing this outlet!!

I absolutely love that youβre listening to your heart, youβre truly an inspiration! Iβm very happy to continue learning from you how to heal through my art! Itβs been the one thing I can rely on to calm myself, to get lost in, allowing it to take away all stresses even if for only a moment. I had lost this for many, many years and youβve been a big part of why Iβve found it again. Thank you!!! π

I actually feel a deep sense of " Relief", that I can finally breathe after worrying everyday for almost the last half of 2024 if " today was gonna be the day"? The day that a war with Russia or China started & Nukes were gonna end it, if the electrical grid was gonna go out & never come back on & trying to decide whats more important to buy next; another rifle, rounds, camp stove or doughnuts?! I have severe Attention Deficit so I watched YouTube videos of people making beautiful artwork & painting furniture so I order some stuff from this lady named Sharon who had inspired me to express myself through art, not sure if you know this lady Sharon or not, sheβs fantastic!π did some projects with friends whom are mentally " fβd up " like myself & thats always a blast but nothing for myself. (Note to ask self: Self, when is last time ya did something for yourself "?) Haha does the purchase of a brand new box of Tampons & big momma pads count?! πΉ Damnit! I thought that red devil was behind me, (hadnβt had a period for 3 months) and I had graduated to old lady Menopause π©π»βπ¦³which was okay since I hate feeling like I am bleeding to death π§π»ββοΈπ§ββοΈevery month and thats the only time I can cry, I hate being reminded that I can be sensitive, lol Anyways, I am expecting first Grandbaby in couple weeks and want to make something for his room & would love any suggestions. Artwork or smaller size wood piece. They are going with a Man Cave theme which is pretty traditional things men like, ππΆπππͺππππ£π§ΈGosh I so Badly want to say what men really like right nowπ€ but Iβll keep it peaceful lol
