Ch Ch Ch Changes are Coming to Accidental ArtMaker (and why!)

February 01, 2025

Hey there, Amazing ArtMaker! πŸ‘‹

If you've been peeking at my website lately, you might have noticed that I am not selling Iron Orchid Designs and Made by Marley anymore. And maybe you've also picked up on some hints that big changes are brewing here at Accidental ArtMaker...

Well, you know what they say: the only thing constant is change! 🫘 And honestly, things are changing everywhere, including right here in my little corner of the art world.

Remember when I started Accidental ArtMaker four years ago? (Right smack-dab in the middle of Covid – some people thought I was completely bonkers! πŸ˜‚) But I had this burning mission, this dream of helping women just like you discover themselves through art. And I knew I wanted to do it while sharing my favorite art supplies!

My mission hasn't changed: "Accidental ArtMaker loves and supports every woman, mid-life or older, who is discovering herself and is creating art as a way to express that discovery. Just like your own journey, your art is uniquely beautiful too. Embrace it, kindle it, and be proud of it." ❀️

But lately, that mission has been getting a little laser-focused...

Here's the honest truth: the current changes in the political landscape have really got me thinking. With talks of tariffs on imported goods, I just couldn't stomach the thought of raising prices and asking you lovely ladies (many of whom are on a fixed income) to shell out extra cash that's just going to end up in some government vault. Nope, not happening! πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

So, I made the tough decision to bid farewell to IOD and MBM. But don't worry, Roycycled (made right here in America by a woman-owned small business!) is here to stay. And I'm on the hunt for other amazing American-made art supplies to fill the shelves! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

But that's not all! I'm also stepping into a new adventure: teaching online art classes! πŸŽ‰ My first class, "Art as Resistance," is a 5-week deep dive into how women throughout history have used art to fight injustice, racism, and yes, even the occasional patriarch. πŸ˜‰ We'll learn from their stories and create our own powerful art that speaks truth to power. Plus, I'm cooking up some plans for weekly online gallery exhibits in our community! (More on that soon - keep your eyes peeled!) πŸ‘€

Now, I know this might not be everyone's cup of tea. And if this new direction isn't your jam, I totally understand if you decide to unsubscribe. No hard feelings! πŸ’• But for me, this feels like the right path forward, a way to use my passion for art to make a real difference in the world.

These past four years have been an absolute gift. Meeting you, getting to know so many of you incredible women... it's been life-changing. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. This isn't about upsetting anyone; it's about staying true to my values and using my little platform to create positive change. ✨

If you are signed up for the newsletter, you will automatically receive information on "Art as Resistance". You can always unsubscribe if you aren't interested. If you are interested and don't get my email, leave a comment here to let me know.

Sending you all my love,

Sharon, The Accidental ArtMaker 😘
